Nursing Home Neglect

Sampson & Slechter has handled hundreds of cases involving nursing home neglect and abuse throughout Kentucky. In most cases, the son or daughter of a nursing home resident calls us with serious concerns over how his or her parent has been treated.

Sadly, for many nursing home residents, human dignity is swept under the rug. We have seen many examples of neglect or abuse, including:

  • Bed sores (also called “pressure sores” or “decubitus ulcers”)
  • Dehydration
  • Malnutrition
  • Lack of basic hygiene, including timely disposal of bodily waste
  • Falls
  • Broken bones
  • Infections
  • Alzheimer’s patients being allowed to wander away from facility
  • Amputations (which may be caused by bed sores that have been allowed to become infected)
  • Sexual abuse
  • Overmedication
  • Physical abuse
  • Improper use of restraints (or lack of appropriate restraints)
  • Wrongful death

If you think your loved one or friend has been a victim of nursing home neglect or abuse, call the attorneys at Sampson & Slechter, PLLC. We will meet with you and your family at no charge. Our law firm will advance all costs to have your claim investigated by some of the top nursing home and medical experts in the country. They will evaluate all pertinent records, and tell us whether your loved one has been a victim of abuse or neglect in a nursing home. If we think you have a case, we will help you file a personal injury lawsuit on behalf of your loved one against the facility. Even if we learn you don’t have a case, you will have peace of mind—and it won’t cost you anything.

Kentucky Law provides a bill of rights for nursing home residents that includes the right to dignity and respect for a resident’s privacy and individuality. At Sampson & Slechter, PLLC we are dedicated to prosecuting claims against nursing homes that do not provide Kentucky’s nursing home residents these basic rights.
